We enjoy not only the visual arts e.g. painting, prints, drawings, pottery and sculpture etc, but also architecture and the crafts. The only qualification needed for membership of our Group is a willingness to explore unfamiliar areas of the vast World of Art. (Of course, if you were able to prevent the rest of us getting lost somewhere in it, that would be a bonus . . .and very welcome)

 Most months we have a trip out to look at artworks choosing a gallery or other place of interest to visit together. Inevitably London draws us like a magnet with its treasure-trove of collections and special exhibitions, but we look for and go to other destinations too, for example stately homes.

  We meet in Bracknell, at Shepherds Lane Methodist Church, on the second Friday of the month usually trying to start by 10am and finishing around 12pm. Apart from the usual notices and planning of trips etc members    provide illustrated talks on a wide range of art. Sometimes this takes the form of an introduction to the artist  or subject of the visit planned for in the future. Members delivering the talks often use electronic media via a laptop and digital projector but slide projection is also available and of course there might be a real object to hold and look at!

Future visits are not usually listed in the Diary of the BFU3A Newsletter; we rarely need to book ahead, so our arrangements are usually quite informal and BFU3A members are welcome to join us even though not part of the Art Appreciation Group. London trips are by train or bus [subject to personal preference] - let us know that you are coming so we can look out for you at your rail station or bus stop! 

*Like a number of U3A interest groups there is a limited number of places on this group and vacancies may not be available although a waiting list system is in use.
