We
are a
Group of 6 or so members, all of whom are reasonably proficient in at
least one other European language, but because we all started Spanish
at 'mature age', it just doesn't sink in as well as the other languages
did!
Our
Coordinator generally acts as host but we do not have a specific leader
for our 'lessons', with all members contributing in principle, although
inevitably the onus falls on some more than others.
We
have two different course books with complementary CDs that we find we
can 'revisit' again and again to great benefit, as well as a selection
of material from various other classroom courses and access to a
website.

Recently,
we have started using an 8-CD Linguaphone Course sponsored
by the Daily Mail. As the cover opposite shows it
promises to teach us Spanish in a week, which our members
don't believe, but they are happy about 'No
reading, no writing, no effort'.
The
course is designed for individuals on their own but we find that
listening (and reacting) to the CDs together is more fun (and more
motivating). The only paperwork is transcripts of glossaries to go with
each disk originally printed in the Mail. The
great advantage of this course is that nobody has to do any
preparation, and anybody missing a meeting has the opportunity to catch
up privately. It is likely that this course will form the basis of our
activities for several months.
